Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency medical service, continues to operate around the clock under full emergency conditions, delivering lifesaving care both in high-risk security zones and across everyday civilian settings. MDA teams work under fire, evacuate the injured, and establish medical response capabilities even in isolated or disconnected areas.
In the face of an evolving security landscape, MDA must maintain constant readiness at a large operational scale, while every day, approximately 35,000 volunteers and 3,200 professional staff are supported by a fleet of over 2,400 emergency vehicles, providing immediate response nationwide. This intensive activity has significantly depleted critical emergency reserves, creating an urgent need to replenish essential equipment.
MDA personnel are often required to enter dangerous environments to save lives, frequently under ongoing threat, and therefore, proper, professional-grade personal protective equipment is vital. Without adequate protection, responders are put at risk, and their ability to reach victims in time is compromised.
To address this need, MDA has launched a targeted initiative to procure 1,500 advanced ballistic protective vests, each equipped with front and back ceramic plates, along with protective helmets. To date, approximately 50% of the required funding has been secured. Immediate support is now needed to complete the purchase of an additional 750 sets, ensuring rapid reinforcement of frontline teams, particularly in northern Israel.
MDA does not receive dedicated emergency funding, and government support accounts for only about 12% of its total budget. We invite you to join this focused effort and help provide critical protective gear that will be deployed immediately to teams in the field.
