36 new first aid providers from the Mishmer HaSharon regional cluster completed their training and began volunteering with MDA
Among the graduates was Tamar Margalit, a relative of Tzachi Idan, who was abducted to Gaza from Kibbutz Nahal Oz on the morning of October 7 and is being held by Hamas terrorists.
At the end of the ceremony, in an emotional gesture and at Tamar's request, the course graduates released yellow balloons into the air to call for Tzachi's return, raise awareness on the issue, and support the families of the abducted. Additionally, red and white balloons were released in memory of Avia Hetzroni, a senior EMT and one of the MDA ambulance operators from Kibbutz Be'eri, who volunteered with MDA for over 20 years and was murdered by Hamas terrorists on October 7 in Kibbutz Be'eri, where he lived. Tamar knew Avia from when she worked at the Be'eri printing house in her youth.
The new first aid providers who have joined MDA will undergo EMT training in the coming weeks and will save lives in the Sharon region.
MDA First Aid Provider Tamar Margalit: "In my daily life, as an embryologist in the lab, I help couples bring children into the world. I decided to join the course and volunteer with MDA to help others in different ways. Volunteering is of immense importance, especially during this time. At the uniform distribution ceremony, I requested to dedicate the red and white balloons to Avia Hetzroni, whom I knew from my time working at the Be'eri printing house after my military service. I asked to dedicate the yellow balloons to my relative Tzachi Idan, hoping for his return and the return of the other hostages soon."
