A delegation of ambassadors and diplomatic representatives visited MDA's National Headquarters in Ramla

A delegation of ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from across the globe visited Magen David Adom’s National Headquarters in Ramla on April-15. This visit was part of an official initiative to deepen their understanding of Israel’s national emergency medical service and its pivotal role in bolstering national resilience. The visit was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ambassadors’ Club of Israel, and was attended by Mr. Gil Haskel, Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yitzhak Eldan, President of the Ambassadors’ Club of Israel, and Mr. Gilad Erdan, President of Global Magen David Adom, former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations and the United States.
During the visit, the ambassadors received a comprehensive overview of MDA’s activities in both routine and emergency situations, emphasizing its role as Israel’s national emergency medical service. They were informed about the operational responses it provides across the nation, from major urban centers to remote regions. The organization’s commitment to delivering prompt, high-quality medical care to all citizens was underscored, along with its close cooperation with the Israel Defense Forces, Israel Police, and Fire and Rescue Services. In times of crisis, MDA functions as an essential component of Israel’s national emergency response infrastructure.
The delegation was introduced to MDA’s sophisticated command and control system, including the national 101 emergency dispatch center, regarded as one of the most advanced globally. Developed in close collaboration with paramedics and dispatchers, the system incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as real-time location tracking, data analysis, and decision-support tools, facilitating the management of thousands of incidents concurrently and ensuring the swift deployment of resources within seconds.
The ambassadors were also introduced to MDA’s operational array, including thousands of ambulances and mobile intensive care units, hundreds of emergency motorcycles and rapid response vehicles, and tens of thousands of volunteers deployed nationwide. Furthermore, MDA’s Blood Services were highlighted, operating in both routine and emergency contexts to ensure a continuous, dependable blood supply for Israel’s entire healthcare infrastructure. Collectively, these capabilities empower MDA to respond swiftly and professionally, even in complex situations such as mass-casualty incidents and active conflict.
The ambassadors appreciated the visit, noting their strong impression of the organization’s excellent professionalism, dedicated staff, and advanced operational and technological infrastructure, which together form a globally recognized model.
Mr. Gilad Erdan, President of Global MDA and former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations and the United States, stated: "Magen David Adom is not merely an emergency organization but also a fundamental pillar of Israel’s national resilience. He highlighted the organization's responsibility to deliver emergency medical aid across the country, driven by a deep commitment to ensuring all citizens receive timely, quality care, no matter where or when. Since the tragic attack on October 7 and the subsequent extraordinary challenges, millions of civilians have faced ongoing threats. The ability to respond quickly, precisely, and on a large scale has become a crucial national priority. Adversaries intentionally target civilians, making the resilience of the home front essential for the strength of the front lines. Ultimately, MDA represents a firm national pledge: every life is precious, no one should be left behind, and help will always be available."
Mr. Gil Weiser, Chairman of the Israeli Friends of MDA, stated: "It is a great honor for us to host representatives of the international community and to present MDA’s national command and control system, the operational heart of emergency response in Israel. In conjunction with this advanced system, renowned globally for its excellence and based on extensive field experience, we focus on three main pillars: the system itself, which facilitates real-time incident management; a comprehensive training framework that has trained over 500,000 citizens in the past year through approximately 1,000 instructors; and the life-saving knowledge developed within MDA, including the deployment of smart defibrillators connected to the system, enabling rapid response in the field. We are committed to expanding these capabilities internationally, sharing knowledge, and fostering collaboration with other nations, driven by the conviction that the experience and technologies developed here can contribute to saving lives well beyond the borders of Israel."
The Director General of MDA, Mr. Eli Bin, stated: "We are honored to host representatives of the international community and to showcase the work of Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical service, which functions continuously, 24/7, to save lives and is a vital element of national resilience. MDA operates within a complex and dynamic environment that demands constant preparedness, real-time decision-making, and the capacity to deliver swift, accurate, and equitable responses to all citizens, regardless of location or time. These capabilities are founded upon the dedication of professional staff and volunteers, decades of accumulated experience, and cutting-edge technology, all orchestrated through our national command and control system. I extend my gratitude to the numerous ambassadors and diplomats who joined us today for their interest, open dialogue, and commitment to enhancing international cooperation, grounded in our shared dedication to saving lives.”
