44 new EMTs and ambulance drivers joined MDA's national first responder unit
In a moving ceremony, the heroic stories of 2 of the course participants, Ofir Tor and Yuri Levy, both of whom survived the horrors of October 7, were shared with those present.
Ofir was shot at by terrorists while on his way to a shift at Sderot station, and while escaping, managed to save the life of another family by warning them about the terrorists.
Yuri was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists from his home in Kfar Aza, but managed to escape and hide for hours before being rescued by IDF special forces.
The two heroes will be on duty along with all the members of the course in the communities in the Lachish Region, including all the areas directly affected by the attacks on October 7.
