MDA Wish Ambulance Visiting Nir Oz

An MDA initiative that allows terminally ill or mobility-challenged patients to fulfill their dreams helped a patient who has suffered greatly due to the events of October 7.
Yosef Atzili, 80, now receiving treatment at a medical center, was a long-time resident of Kibbutz Nir Oz, the site of one of the worst massacres by Hamas terrorists on October 7. Yosef’s son, Aviv, who fought the infiltrators, was murdered. Aviv’s wife, Liat, was taken captive and returned after many
months in captivity.
The MDA Wish AmbulanceWish Ambulance, equipped and staffed for the mission, transported Yosef to the kibbutz, which he had not visited since his son's funeral. During the tour, under the care of paramedic Yonat Daskal Dagan and EMT Netanel Engel, he visited a memorial monument to his son and other victims. He then got a chance to see the car repair garage, which he had managed for 20 years before passing it on to his late son.

At the end of the tour, a surprise awaited him at the kibbutz pool as family and friends toasted him on his 80th birthday.
"I have already fulfilled many wishes as part of the Wish Ambulance project, but this time it is about something that concerns us all, the war. I am happy to have the privilege of helping fulfill Yosef's wish, which is of enormous importance for his strong and amazing family," said paramedic Yonat Daskal Dagan.
"It was so exciting for us and, of course, for Aba. It was a full-circle day for him. You accompanied him to very important and meaningful places for him,” said Yosef's son, Yiftach.
