Kim Nevatov, 85, a Holocaust survivor, dreamed of attending his granddaughter Miri's wedding, but because he is paralyzed in his lower body, he didn’t know if it was possible.
The groom-to-be, Roy, posted on social media asking for ideas from the public.
As soon as Magen David Adom saw the request, they sent word to the team at the MDA Wish Ambulance, which fulfills the requests of people facing serious or terminal illnesses. The fulfillment of each wish is carefully planned in coordination with a medical team.
As Miri and Roy Vidavsky, both 27-year-olds who served as reserve officers in the war, stood under the ceremonial chuppah, Kim was there watching. He was able to hug the young couple and offer them his blessing. The Wish Ambulance team helped Kim at the event and brought him home afterward.
"We are grateful to the MDA Wish Ambulance team for making Saba Kim's wish come true, and in fact, it made our wish come true as well,” said the newlyweds.
"What a pleasure that we were able to take part in the joy of a bride and groom. Kim's wish moved us. His smile along with Miri's and Roy's smiles were worth everything,” said paramedic Yonat Daskel Dagan.
