Upgrading Medical Services for Citizens in Hatzor Haglilit

Hatzor Haglilit: Starting  August 29th, a new MDA mobile intensive care unit (MICU) will be operated with the help of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews
A ceremony was held to inaugurate a new mobile intensive care unit at the MDA station in Hatzor Haglilit. The new unit will be operated with assistance from the Fellowship Foundation and was donated through the MDAUK Friends Association in London. The ceremony was attended by Hatzor Haglilit Regional Council Head, Michael Kabsa, the Emergency and Security Director at the IFCJ, Lt. Col. (Res.) Safuan Merich, MDA Deputy Director General of Operations, Gil Moskowitz, Yarden Regional Manager, Oren Avitan, MDA Hatzor and Safed District Manager, Shimon Bismuth, and MDA volunteers and staff at the Hatzor Haglilit station.

At the MDA station in Hatzor, over 120 volunteers are active, including dozens of MDA youth volunteers who save lives in the northern region and work to strengthen it during wartime. The new MICU, which operates with the help of the IFCJ, has been stationed at the MDA facility in Hatzor Haglilit and will provide medical services to approximately 11,000 residents of the council and surrounding area.

The new MDA MICU in Hatzor Haglilit, which began serving the region this morning, operates thanks to the generous support of the IFCJ, which helps MDA with numerous life-saving projects across the country. The IFCJ was established in the United States in 1983 by Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, of blessed memory, to promote friendship, understanding, and coordination between Christians and Jews concerning their shared support for Zionism and Israel. Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein served as the organization's president until his passing in 2019. The current president is his daughter, Yael Eckstein, who has been active in the organization for 14 years. The IFCJ contributes significantly to MDA for the health of Israel's residents.

Emergency and Security Director at the Fellowship Foundation, Lt. Col. (Res.) Safuan Merich: “We are pleased to be part of strengthening the civilian front and are happy with our partnerships with MDA to make essential medical services more accessible and robust for residents of peripheral areas.”

Hatzor Haglilit Regional Council Head, Michael Kabsa: “This is an historic day for Hatzor Haglilit; we have waited many years for this moment. An advanced intensive care unit with a paramedic on duty and 24-hour service in Hatzor — this is a force multiplier and allows us to achieve the goal I set: improving the medical system in Hatzor. This unit has already begun operations today and has already saved lives and will save many more in Hatzor and the surrounding area. I thank MDA staff for their assistance and the IFCJ for their important donation—they are true friends of Hatzor Haglilit.”

MDA Director General, Eli Bin: “The IFCJ has been supporting us for many years, assisting and contributing so that we can continue to ensure medical security in the country for its residents. I thank the Foundation for once again focusing on strengthening the northern region and helping us position an intensive care unit in Hatzor Haglilit, thus improving medical services for the council and surrounding area residents. Thanks to the generous donors who chose to remain anonymous, your contribution will help us continue our mission to save lives. We will continue with projects in cooperation with the Fellowship Foundation, and soon in other locations in the Upper Galilee.”
