A bulletproof ambulance to be stationed in the community of Eli to commemorate the memory of First Sgt. (Res.) Nitai Meisels and Maj. (Res.) Amishar Ben David.
First Sgt. Nitai Meisels served in an elite tank unit. He was called up on Simchat Torah and fell in battle on 12 Tevet 5784 / December 24, 2023, during a search mission to locate hostages in the Shati refugee camp in the Northern Gaza Strip.
At the age of 16, as a teenager, Nitai began volunteering at the Rehovot station of Magen David Adom. Nitai completed a TARA”N course (training for multiple casualty events) and volunteered as part of an intensive care ambulance team. Volunteering and saving lives continued to be a central part of his life. In the IDF, Nitai served in the Tank Corps, and in the army reserves, he volunteered for an elite tank unit. During the first days of the fighting, he initiated and provided first aid training under battlefield conditions for his fellow fighters in the battle zones.
Major Amishar Ben David was the commander of the Mobile Command Unit supporting the Head of the Commando Brigade. Amishar was called up on Simchat Torah and fell in battle on 28 Adar Bet 5724 / March 8, 2024, during the battles in Khan Yunis in the Southern Gaza Strip.
Amishar also began his career in MDA at the age of 16 and volunteered at the Tiberias station during his high school years. After his release from army service, he returned to volunteer at MDA in Eli, and was later appointed team leader.
During his regular army service, Amishar volunteered for the Maglan unit, and in the reserves served as commander in the Commando Brigade. Amishar was a central member of the MDA team in Eli, both in providing medical response, and communal support. On black Simchat Torah, he decided on his own to call up his soldiers, and together they went down to join the fighting in Kfar Azza.
Based on the experiences of the Simchat Torah massacre, the need for bulletproof ambulances has been recognized as a significant priority.
Nitai's family and friends have decided to commemorate his memory by purchasing a bulletproof ambulance for MDA, to be stationed in the community of Eli, where his older brother lives, who also volunteers as an MDA driver.
During the establishment of the ambulance project in memory of Nitai, Amishar Ben David, a resident of Eli, also fell in battle. His team of MDA volunteers and the Ben David family joined the project, and together, wish to also commemorate Amishar's memory through the purchase of the ambulance to be stationed in Eli.
Please help us raise funds for the bulletproof ambulance in memory of Nitai and Amishar and continue to save lives!
