In Memory of Sergeant (Res.) Neriya Moshe Cohen
Staff Sergeant (Res.) Neria Moshe Cohen , a 26-year-old from Givat Shmuel, dedicated his life to helping others.
For approximately three years, he volunteered as a paramedic and ambulance driver at the Givat Shmuel Magen David Adom station. He served as a combat soldier in the humanitarian corridor during the "Iron Swords" War and altogether completed over 200 days of reserve duty.
Neriya was a third-year medical student and a teaching assistant at the emergency medicine department at his university. He was killed tragically during his reserve service, leaving behind grieving parents, a brother, and two sisters.
Esti, an emergency medic at MDA and one of Neriya's closest friends, shared this heartfelt memory:
"Neriya and I were born on the same day and the same year, and we always joked that we were twins. We finished our medic course at the same time and studied for the exams together. We even received our first responder kits on the same day.
That day, Neriya told me, 'Don't worry—if they didn't give me a deffibrilator, I’ll get one. It is important and it saves lives.'
He devoted his life to helping others and volunteering.
As our shared birthday approaches, I find myself waiting for a message from him that will never come...
So, in his memory, I have decided to celebrate life the way Neriya would have wanted—by saving lives."
In honor of what would have been Neria's 27th birthday, we decided to purchase 27 defibrillators, one for every year of Neriya's life. Each defibrillator costs 6,400 NIS and will be given to an MDA first responder.
Together, we can ensure that every first responder is equipped to save lives and significantly reduce the number of deaths caused by cardiac arrest.
Thanks to you, MDA's first responder who will arrive to treat cardiac arrest patients will be able to save him by administering an electric shock.
