Staff Sergeant Nissim Kahlon, a 21-year-old from Hadera, was a combat soldier in the Rotem Battalion (Battalion 435) of the Givati Brigade.
He was tragically killed by terrorist gunfire in Khan Yunis on March 27, 2024, leaving behind his beloved parents, Galit and Gabriel, and his siblings, Orel, Maayan, and Yosef Chaim.
Nissim fought with the Givati Brigade in the Gaza Strip since October 7. Throughout his service, he participated in numerous missions, always with great commitment, responsibility, and dedication.
Nissim grew up in the Givat Olga neighborhood and studied at the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva in Hadera.
Rabbi Kuti Yeger, the rabbi of the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva where Nissim studied, shared:
"Our hearts are broken. Nissim was loved by everyone. He managed to excel in his studies at the yeshiva and overcame every challenge he faced. He was a student who always strove for excellence. I remember that a year before he enlisted in the IDF, he told me he was determined to join the elite combat units, to fight, and contribute in defending the state of Israel – and that's exactly what he did. He fell as a true hero."
A relative of Nissim added:
"He cared for everyone, even though he was the one fighting alongside his comrades in battles and losing close friends. He was supposed to be discharged in just a few months after his long service."
