Mati , who was injured ten months before his death, was hospitalized for inhaling smoke in the tank, but he insisted on returning to combat.
Rabbi Shlomo Perl, Matityahu, 's uncle, shared this about his beloved nephew: "Matatiahu was an example of a person who combines a life of Torah with military service, love for friends, modesty, and great kindness to everyone around him," said Rabbi Perl. "When he enlisted, he took the Torah with him into the tank."
Matityahu 's family and friends wish to perpetuate his memory through the donation of an emergency medical motorcycle by Magen David Adom
