Sergeant Yoav Daniel, beloved son of Revital and Shahar and brother to Hadar and Sato, was born on September 28, 2005, and grew up in Nahariya.
Yoav was a joyful young man who loved life. He had a captivating smile, was surrounded by friends, and was always ready to help others with humility and respect.
Yoav studied at ORT Shchakim High School, where he excelled academically and represented his school in chess competitions. From a young age, he practiced martial arts, later focusing on MMA, which he considered a way of life. Thanks to his self-discipline and determination, he won the Israeli Youth Championship in 2022 and 2023. He also represented Israel at the World Youth Championship in Abu Dhabi, where he won a medal.
“There is no such thing as ‘I can’t’ , there is only ‘I don’t want to,’” he would often say, a phrase that reflected his approach to life and his belief in the power of determination.
As he prepared to enlist in the IDF, Yoav had the option of applying for Outstanding Athlete status and continuing to develop his athletic career. Instead, he chose to serve in a combat unit, driven by a desire to defend his country and his people, especially during wartime. On December 10, 2023, he enlisted in the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade, dreaming of returning to the ring and competing in Israel and around the world after his military service.
On November 13, 2024, Yoav fell in battle in southern Lebanon, alongside five of his fellow soldiers, during an encounter with Hezbollah terrorists,. He was 19 years old and had served for 11 months.
Yoav was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Nahariya.
His family and friends seek to honor his memory by donating an MDA emergency motorcycle. This motorcycle will enable emergency responders to reach those in need more quickly and provide life-saving medical care.
