Advanced Sergeant Avshalom (Avshi) Yair Peretz fell in battle on October 7th, the 22nd of Tishrei 5784, when he went to fight shoulder to shoulder with his unit comrades. He was 27 at the time of his fall. He left behind his parents and two sisters.
His friends recount: Avshi was a man of action, a people person, and a fighter with every fiber of his being, who jumped to fight on Simchat Torah to save lives in the surrounding towns and cities.
Avshalom was born and raised in Netivot. During his regular service, he was a fighter in the Maglan unit. In 2022, he enlisted in the Yamam (Counter-Terrorism Unit) and was involved in dozens of counter-terrorism operations. Thanks to him and his friends, many lives were saved. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Netivot.
Avshalom's family and friends seek to memorialize him by donating an ambulance motorcycle.
