At this critical moment, Magen David Adom (MDA) is operating at full emergency capacity, ready for immediate respond to provide life-saving emergency medical treatment under fire, at the missile impact sites and during mass-casualty evacuations.
With 35,000 volunteers and 3,200 employees deployed nationwide, MDA operates roughly 2,400 rescue vehicles and stands ready 24/7 to respond to direct strikes, set up field clinics in remote areas, and coordinate mass casualty evacuations, while continuing to handle routine medical emergencies at an average rate of one call every 22 seconds.
The ongoing military operation requires the continuous, large-scale mobilization of all MDA’s resources. The Urgent Reality is that each day of combat costs MDA approximately 3 million NIS needed for trauma kits, protective gear, logistics, fuel, and personnel. This is a cost that must never influence operational decisions when lives are at stake.
Magen David Adom’s broad infrastructure, largely funded by donations, allows it to maintain and deliver nationwide swift and professional emergency medical care even under the most challenging circumstances. but maintaining this capacity requires significant financial resources. Magen David Adom does not receive a dedicated emergency budget and government funding represents only about 12% of MDA’s annual budget.
