As one of the key takeaways from the October 7th attacks, Magen David Adom identified an acute need to provide immediate and advanced emergency medical care in every location—without relying solely on Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICUs). The goal is to ensure that the most advanced medical response is available within the first seconds of any emergency.
MDA’s paramedics are the elite of Israel’s emergency medical system, trained to treat complex medical cases such as cardiac arrest, severe trauma, stroke, road accidents, and more. They are authorized to perform lifesaving procedures that EMTs are not certified to carry out.
Due to a shortage of paramedics, they are assigned exclusively to MICUs and dispatched only to the most complex emergency events.
Expanding and strengthening MDA’s paramedic force will ensure broader deployment of highly trained medical professionals across all rescue vehicles, dramatically improving the availability and quality of lifesaving care in the field.
A paramedic’s role includes rapid and professional field response—even without an ambulance—allowing them to perform critical procedures such as intubation, chest tube insertion, and more. They make vital clinical decisions when a patient’s condition deteriorates and serve as the essential link between field operations and medical teams in hospitals and operating rooms.
MDA is the only entity in Israel authorized to train paramedics in the civilian and military systems.
We invite you to adopt an MDA paramedic and become a vital partner in strengthening Israel’s emergency medical system.
As paramedic supporters, we would be honored to arrange a personal meeting and training session with a scholarship paramedic.
